Barra Grande is off the beaten path, just the way we like it. An unpaved road which goes up to the tip of the peninsula de Marau stretches approximately 40km north. In good conditions you drive at regular speed as it's maintained fairly well. During periods of heavy rain it can become challenging. Contact us and we give you an update on the road condition.
This means that some amenities in the region are… limited! Here are some helpful travel pointers to bear in mind for your stay at the Peninsula de Maraú.
There are no banks or ATMs on the whole peninsula, so bring some cash as many places (hotels/bars/restaurants) do not accept cards. (We accept MasterCard and VISA at KA BRU Beach)
There is basically NO signal for cell phones in most parts of the peninsula.
We do have fast wireless internet
The electricity in the Marau peninsula is 220V (the standard voltage in the rest of Brasil is 110V).
Sorry, but furry friends are not permitted at KA BRU Beach
All rooms at KA BRU Beach are non-smoking.
We love babies and kids
Neverthless we suggest them to be minimum 12 years of age to be staying at KA BRU Beach
Leaving your car in Camamu
then getting here via boat transfer is often a good option but means that you don't have a car on the peninsula

We’re here for you – contact us and we are happy to assist.
Located 120 km away from KA BRU Beach, Ilheus (IOS) is the closest airport, and therefore the easiest option. From here, you can take an airport transfer (2-3 hours) directly to KA BRU Beach.
We can arrange your airport transfer for you. A driver will meet you on arrival, bring you straight to our doorstep. Price on request.
A cheaper option would be to rent a car from Ilheus: this gives you added independence and flexibility to explore the area during your stay. But be aware that the roads up the Marau peninsula (40km) are unpaved, which can cause delays during periods of heavy rain, or lack of maintenance. For this reason we always recommend visitors to rent a car with good tires and road clearance, preferably 4WD.
Coming from Ilheus head north on the BA 001, direction Itacaré. Just before arriving in Itacaré there is a roundabout, where you’ll turn left following signs for "Camamu" and "Salvador via Ferry Boat". Approximately 10 kms later (25 min before Camamu) you will reach another roundabout, where you will turn right onto the gravel road BR 030, direction Maraú.
Follow the KA BRU Beach signs for 44km!
